Interior Design Services

Will I be able to see what my space will look like before work begins?

Yes. We bring your vision to life before anything is built through detailed moodboards and design renders that show exactly what's possible. This means you can make confident decisions early, knowing how colours, finishes, and layouts will work together in your home.

What's the difference between interior design and interior styling?

Interior design shapes the foundations of a space - layout, joinery, kitchens and bathrooms, colour, and material selections - while styling perfects the finishing layer with furniture, décor, and considered detail. We offer both, including interior styling and virtual decorating, so your home is resolved from structure right through to the final touches.

Can you design a single room, or do you only take on whole-home projects?

Both. We work on everything from full-home interiors to room-by-room updates, including focused kitchen and bathroom transformations. Whether you're reimagining your entire home or refreshing one space, we ensure the result feels cohesive and authentically yours.

Do I need finished plans before we start, or can I come with just ideas?

You can absolutely start with just ideas. No matter where you're at in your design journey - whether you have a full set of plans or only a Pinterest board - we're here to help you move forward with clarity and confidence. We'll meet you at your stage and bring structure to your inspiration.

How much do interior design services cost in Sydney?

Every project is priced to its scope, so a room-by-room refresh and a full-home design sit at very different points. The best starting place is an initial consultation, where we refine your vision, set realistic goals, and map out the next steps - so you know exactly what's involved before committing. From there we tailor a proposal around your home, timeline, and budget.

Prestart and Architectural Planning Support

What reports and documents will my build need before approval?

Most builds require a range of supporting reports, and we coordinate their production and submission for you. This typically includes BASIX assessments, environmental and acoustic reports, engineers' plans and site surveys, 10.7 planning certificates, and title searches, all uploaded correctly through the NSW Planning Portal. Handling this early prevents delays once you're ready to break ground.

Do I still need an architect if I work with you?

Architects remain central to designing and certifying your plans, and we work alongside them rather than replace them. We develop base floor plans and façades with architect input, refine plans to align with your vision and budget, and coordinate between you, your builder, consultants, and regulatory bodies - so the whole team stays aligned.

What is prestart, and why does it matter?

Prestart is the critical planning phase that happens before construction begins, where plans, approvals, and selections are locked in. Getting it right sets the foundation for everything that follows - when decisions are made thoughtfully and approvals are secured efficiently, your build runs smoother, faster, and with far fewer surprises. Our role is to take the overwhelm out of this stage and get you construction-ready with confidence.

What's the difference between a CDC and a DA in NSW?

A Complying Development Certificate (CDC) is a fast-tracked approval for straightforward projects that meet set state planning standards, often issued in a matter of weeks. A Development Application (DA) is assessed by your local council on merit and suits more complex, heritage, or site-constrained builds, taking longer to determine. We help identify the right pathway for your project and manage all CDC and DA documentation on your behalf.

Can you help if I already have plans from a builder or architect?

Yes. We regularly review and refine existing architectural plans to ensure they align with your vision, budget, and builder requirements, while thinking strategically about accessibility and future-proofing. If anything needs adjusting before approval, we'll identify it early and coordinate the changes.

Project Management & Construction Oversight

Can you manage my renovation if you didn't design it?

Yes. Our hands-on oversight applies whether it's a large-scale renovation, a brand-new build, or a focused interior upgrade, regardless of who created the original design. We step in to coordinate trades, manage contractors, and assure quality so the project runs smoothly through to handover.

How involved will I need to be during construction?

As involved as you'd like to be. We act as the single point of contact, maintaining ongoing dialogue with all stakeholders and keeping you informed without burdening you with day-to-day logistics. The aim is to transform what could be a stressful process into a confident, seamless journey.

How do you keep my project on budget?

We track every dollar spent, maintain rigorous cost estimates, and manage procurement, deliveries, and installations so they happen precisely when needed. By monitoring spend continuously and flagging issues early, we keep your budget protected and prioritised rather than discovered at the end.

Do I still need project management if I've already hired a builder?

A builder constructs your project, while we protect your interests across the whole process - coordinating consultants, tracking budgets, scheduling, and conducting quality inspections at every stage. This independent oversight keeps communication flowing between you, your contractors, and suppliers, and ensures the finished result meets your standards and expectations.

What does a project manager do on a home build or renovation?

A project manager coordinates the many moving parts of a build so it stays on track, on budget, and true to your vision. We develop detailed project plans, coordinate trades and site visits, manage vendors and contractors, track every dollar, and oversee procurement and quality - acting as the single point of contact who resolves issues before they become problems.

Exterior Design Services

What does an exterior designer do?

An exterior designer curates the materials, colours, and finishes that shape your home's first impression and curb appeal. We guide you through brick, render and roof tile selection, external colour palettes, driveway, façade and fencing finishes, and landscape and garden design concepts - so every surface and texture tells a unified story.

Can you make my home's exterior match the interior?

Yes - this is central to how we work. We craft cohesive outdoor spaces that complement your interior vision, ensuring your exterior looks and feels like a true extension of what's inside. Every finish is chosen to align with your overall design rather than sit apart from it.

How do you choose exterior colours and materials that won't date?

We focus on timeless, considered selections rather than passing trends, harmonising brick, render, roofing and colour so they work together for the long term. By coordinating textures and finishes against your home's architecture and surroundings, we create an exterior with lasting curb appeal.

Do exterior changes like render or recladding need council approval in Sydney?

It depends on the scope. Many straightforward external updates can proceed without approval, while larger changes may require a Complying Development Certificate (CDC) or Development Application (DA) in NSW. If your project needs approvals, our prestart and architectural planning support can manage the documentation for you.

Do you work on existing homes, or only new builds?

Both. Whether you're modernising a cherished older home or designing from scratch, we help bring unity and sophistication to the outside of your property. Our material and colour selections suit renovations and new builds alike.

The Design Process

What is included in a “Full Proposal"?

Our Full Proposal is our most comprehensive package. It covers every detail from the initial concept through to final selections, schedules, and documentation for new builds or major renovations.

Do I need to have an architect already?

Not necessarily. We offer an Architectural Package in collaboration with local architects. We can manage the entire process, including DA/CDC documentation and renders.

Do you provide 3D visuals of the design?

Yes, during the Design Development stage, we provide a tailored package that can include floor plans, elevations, and 3D visuals to help you visualize your space before construction begins.

How does the Gigi Interiors design process work?

Our process follows four clear steps: 1. Choose Your Package (Consultation, Selection, or Full Proposal); 2. Design Development & Documentation (Mood boards, 3D visuals, and schedules); 3. Coordination & Execution (Liaising with builders and managing approvals); 4. Installation & Styling (The finishing touches and final walkthrough).

I’m overwhelmed and don’t know where to start. Can you help?

Designing a home should be exciting, not stressful. We recommend starting with our Initial Consultation. It’s designed to refine your vision, set realistic goals, and map out your next steps so you can move forward with confidence.

Yes. Step 4 of our process is dedicated to Installation & Styling. We oversee furniture placement and accessory styling to make your house feel like a finished home.

What if I only want help with one room, like a bathroom?

Do you design custom cabinetry?

Yes, we offer a dedicated Custom Joinery service. We design bespoke cabinetry and detailing for kitchens, laundries, and living spaces to ensure every element is purposeful and fits your home perfectly.

I have a Pinterest board but no clear plan. Is that enough?

Definitely! We love seeing your inspiration. We can take your ideas and Pinterest boards and turn them into a professional, cohesive design plan.
